Descrição

This dataset consists of the estimated data of the CO2 flux partition: assimilation or gross primary production (GPP) and heterotrophic or ecosystem respiration (Reco), as well as the standard deviation of each estimate. These data have been estimated from the data provided by the ICTS of the Doñana Biological Reserve of the eddy covariance tower located in Fuente Duque, in the Hinojos marsh in the period between October 2020 and December 2022.

The eddy covariance system is installed in a marsh ecosystem with intermittent periods of flooding. The main vegetation cover is grasses, predominantly Bolboschoenus maritimus.

Cobertura Geográfica

This is the position of the eddy covariance tower. The area covered will depend on the speed and direction of the wind, but it covers approximately 100 m radius from the tower.

Dados Sobre o Projeto

The SUMHAL Project, Sustainability for Mediterranean Hotspost integrating LifeWatch ERIC, is part of the ERDF program of actions related to the pan-European distributed infrastructure of e-Science LifeWatch ERIC, with Headquarters in Andalusia-Spain. SUMHAL fundamental objective: Conservation of biodiversity in natural or semi-natural systems of the western Mediterranean, based on high-tech infrastructures, and the association between highly specialized research personnel and citizens. The subtask WP6.2 (Monitoring program at LTSER platform) objetctive is the systematic acquisition and automatic processing of water (evapotranspiration) and carbon (fixation) fluxes by the vegetation, wetlands and soils of Doñana using flux towers (Eddy-Covariance technique). Use of these data obtained in the field for the validation of products derived from remote sensing images (satellite, airborne and from drone).

Métodos de Amostragem

The ICTS-RBD provided the five-minute data of the 4 components of solar radiation (incident and reflected long and short wave) as well as the high-frequency data of the eddy covariance system (sonic temperature and concentration of water and CO2 at 10 hz). These data were processed to obtain the semi-hourly fluxes that were finally used for the estimation. A filter based on the friction velocity (U*) was applied by the Moving Point Test according to Papale et al. 2006 and finally the partition algorithm of Lasslop et al. 2010. The gap filling of the eddy covariance and meteorological data were performed with methods similar to Falge et al. (2001) but also considering the co-variation of fluxes with meteorological variables and the temporal auto-correlation of the fluxes (Reichstein et al. 2005).

Área de Estudo Half-hourly data of gross primary production and ecosystem respiration between October 2020 and December 2022 estimated from a flux tower in a marsh ecosystem.
Controle de Qualidade Quality assessment is applied during the processing chain removing spikes and noise.

Descrição dos passos do método:

  1. High frequency data processing was performed with the EddyPro program (LI-COR Inc). U* filtering, gap filling and flow partitioning were performed with the REddyProc R-package (Wutzler et al. 2018).
